About Cape Canaveral / Orlando
Orlando & Cape Canaveral Fishing Charters
These two exciting destinations make up one of the most desirable fishing regions in the world. Ultimate Fishing Charters can help you find captains who operate along the entire coastal area, providing world-class sportfishing ships and luxury yachts for an unforgettable experience.
Two Great Cities, One Amazing Region
Cape Canaveral is located in Brevard County, which is along the Atlantic coast in the center of Florida. The city is unique in that it offers world-class saltwater fishing in the Atlantic, within a 45-minute drive of Orlando, which is home to a number of tourist attractions including Disney World and Universal Studios Park. Cape Canaveral is a small city with excellent hotels, restaurants and attractions for a city of its size.
Orlando is located in Central Florida’s Orange County and widely regarded as the “Theme Park Capital of the World”. Although most visitors to Orlando come to visit the dozens of theme parks, it is also in the heartland of some of Florida’s best bass fishing. Although its central locations means Orlando does not offer typical saltwater fishing access it does offer direct access to bass fishing with an estimated 60,000 acres of freshwater comprised of 100’s of lakes.
Top Fishing Spots
Ocean fishing out of Cape Canaveral is a combination of offshore trolling, bottom fishing and wreck fishing, as this area of the Atlantic is littered with shipwrecks. Depending upon the time of year, a variety of saltwater fish species can be found in the Cape Canaveral area including, grouper, snapper, amberjack, dolphin (mahi-mahi), wahoo, blackfin tuna, king mackerel, sailfish, cobia, barracuda, Spanish mackerel, tarpon, triple tail, bonito, shark, jack crevalle, whittling and croakers.
While charters are available year around, the winter offers more charters options for the fisherman looking for a memorable fishing experience, as the fishing is generally better for many species of fish. While some game fish stay in the same waters year around, other game fish migrate during the winter months following the warm waters
Orlando Lake Fishing
The ocean isn’t the only big draw however—five area lakes near Orlando are known for their excellent opportunities. Clear Lake is famous for its hybrid bass, best pursued during the winter months of November to March. Lake Ivanhoe, Lake Underhill and Starke Lake are best known for their trophy bucket mouth largemouth bass, with the best opportunities occurring during the winter and spring spawn.
If you want to add some slab crappies to the menu do not overlook nearby Turkey Lake from December to April, also an excellent spot for largemouth bass. Of course local knowledge is as much a key to catching big fish as the right bait and Orlando has no shortage of guides willing to help you fill you creel. Home to the national headquarters for many large tournaments organizers, and the anglers who fish those tournaments, Orlando is without questions a bucket list destination for bucket mouth anglers.
Book Your Fishing Charter or Luxury Yacht
Full day, half day, and party boat charters run all year long. When not on the boat, there are a number of outdoor activities to keep the fisherman and their family busy including swimming, sailing, bird-watching at nearby Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, walking along the beach at Canaveral National Seashore, golf and diving. While there be sure to visit the nearby Kennedy Space Center and Kennedy Spaceport Launch Complex and learn why this section of the Florida coast is known as the “Space Coast”. Cape Canaveral is an excellent destination for anglers looking for a world class fishing experience and so much more!
There are simply too many attractions in Orlando to name them all. One of the benefits of the numerous theme parks in this region is easy access to accommodations and dining options to suit everyone’s tastes and budget.
