The most popular type of fishing charter available in and around Nassau is deep sea fishing. About a mile north of of the island is the continental shelf a prime are for pelagic offshore fishing. At this shelf the ocean floor drops off roughly 4000 ft creating prime feeding grounds for mahi, wahoo, yellowfin tuna, mackerel, and billfish. On the south side of Nassau anglers can choose to fish the reefs. This area provides calmer waters great for light tackle fishing for snapper, barracuda, and other fish living on the reefs.
