Deep sea fishing in the area is known to yield shark, marlin, yellow fin tuna, blue fin tuna, marlin, sailfish, barracuda, and many others that can be found in the deeper waters. The Bahamas and Bimini are situated perfectly along the Gulf Stream, a rush of warm water that carries migrating fish along their mating patterns. The shallower flats, reefs, and wrecks in the area bring in smaller fish like blue tang, blueheads, barjack, surgeonfish, angelfish, spotted goatfish, harlequin bass, branded butterfly fish, and many other beautiful, bright fish throughout the waters.

When visiting an exotic area such as Bimini, the weather throughout the entire year is favorable for fishing. However, it is more ideal to fish during the April to September months when trying to catch some of the larger fish in the water. This is the time when they are the most abundant, though they can also be found during other times of the year. January to March provides a good time for some of the smaller fish to come up to the shore, while September to December fishing is fair. When the weather is warmer is when the fish start to become more active, which means as soon as the spring hits, it is time to get in the boat. It is ideal to take a charter captain with you on the trip so that they are able to navigate the waters and the best local spots. Full-day, half-day, and even short hourly trips are available during peak seasons. The “Healing Hole” is a calm water drop-off close to most docks in the area. It is easily accessible and a popular destination for a quick hourly trip. The Bimini Big Game Club is a resort and marina designed specifically for anglers and a popular destination for tournaments and luxury charters.

When you aren’t catching big fish, there are small shops located along the islands and small businesses, such as restaurants and cafes. The quiet atmosphere throughout the streets is priceless. Bimini has all of the attractions and amenities of the larger Bahamas islands, but without the cruise ship traffic and bustling city center of Nassau. Enjoy a suite in town or a bungalow on the beach. Bimini may be a smaller place, but it is packed with beauty, fishing excitement and the tranquil peace you’d expect from a vacation.
